Amelia Nelson, 101, formerly of Rock Lake and Cando, N.D., passed away on Jan. 19, 2009, at Royal Oaks Nursing Home, Omaha, NE.
Amelia Julia Klebaum was born on Nov. 1, 1907, the daughter of Edward and Maria (Eckerdt) Klebaum in Egeland, N.D. She began her education in the Brumbaugh School and graduated from Rock Lake High School. She married Ed Winter in 1928 and moved to Chippewa Falls, WI. They returned to Rock Lake in 1941. Amelia worked in various businesses in Rock Lake. They were divorced in 1950. Amelia later moved to Cando where she worked for various businesses for many years. In 1963, she married Oris Nelson. He passed away in 2003. She then made her home with her daughter Eilene in Omaha, NE., where she lived until April 2005 when she moved to Royal Oaks Nursing Home. She was a member of All Nations Lutheran Church, Rock Lake, and later of Cando Lutheran Church.
She is survived by 1 son, William (Dee) Winter, Irrigon, OR., 4 daughters; Eilene Miettinen, Omaha, NE., Elaine Seed, LaPine, OR., Dorothy (Jack) Wysoski, Osakis, MN., and Marilyn (Ralph) Lindsay, Ransom, IL., 13 grandchildren,
25 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Elsie Heller, Rolla, N.D., Alice (Gordon) Peterson, Bismark, N.D., and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Oris, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Edmund Klebaum, and 6 sisters: Elizabeth (infant), Pauline Knutt, Esther Tuenge, Hertha Carleton, Lydia Thurston, Erna Siebert. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Chapel, Cando, ND with inurnment at 9:00 AM In theUnion Cemetery, Egeland, ND.
