Arlene Benson, 91, of Stanley, ND, and formerly of Cando, ND passed away at the Trinity Hospital in Minot on Sunday, January 1, 2012.
Arlene Reed was born on September 16, 1920 at Cando to C.E. and Susie (Rader) Reed. She was raised and educated in Cando. On May 8, 1943 she was united in marriage to David Noble. To this union three children were born, Rondel, Daniel, and Jesse. They established their home in Cando. David passed away February 16, 1958. Arlene later married Ben Benson and farmed west of Cando. Ben passed away November 9, 1990. Arlene moved to Stanley, ND following Ben’s death to be closer to her family. She resided there until her death.
Arlene loved gardening, sewing, and playing cards. Grandma B made many quilts for her family. Most of all, Arlene loved and enjoyed being with her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter: Rondel (Ron) Robinson of Pocatello, ID; and two sons: Daniel (Virginia) Noble of Ross, ND and Jesse (Susan) Noble of Miles City, MT. Arlene is also survived by five stepchildren: Jack (Kathy) Benson of Granite Bay, CA, John (Barbara) Benson of Cottage Grove, MN, Janice Hanson of Fridley MN, Judy Ziegler of Minot, ND, and Joanne (Jerry) Bergin of Tower, MN; eighteen grandchildren; and thirty-four great grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; her husbands; four brothers: Ward, Harold, Marsden, and Alvin Reed; two sisters: Edna Reed Belle and Leona Reed Bulock; three step-son in laws: Donald Hanson, James Ziegler, and Glenn Hill; and one granddaughter: Kimberly Freitag.
Services for Arlene will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cando Lutheran Church of Cando, ND.
