Eleanor Schuler

Eleanor Schuler, 98, died June 6, 2010 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND where she has been a resident for ten years. Born October 17, 1911 to Hubert and Katie Michels of Munich, ND, she grew up and attended school in Munich. On November 19, 1936 she married Edmund Schuler of Calio. They farmed in the Calio/Munich area until 1978 when Edmund became a resident of the Cando Nursing Home. Eleanor moved to Munich in 1978 where she lived for 18 years. In 1996 she became a resident of Heartland Court Retirement Center in Devils Lake and in June 2000 she became a resident of the Heartland Care Center.

Eleanor was active in the St. Boniface Church of Calio and St. Mary’s Church of Munich as well as the Homemakers Club of Munich.

She is survived by her seven children: Yvonne (John) Thiessen, Orr, MN, Joanne (Merton) Dodge, Merced, CA, Carolyn (Leonard) Byzewski, Foley, AL, Marietta (Eugene) Pulles, Sauk Rapids, MN, Edmond, Jr. (Butch) (Debbie) Schuler, Grand Forks, ND, Collette (Stewart) MacArthur, Bullhead City, AZ, and Mark (Susan) Schuler,  Las Vegas, NV. Also surviving are the 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, one sister, Regina Hoffman, Munich, and one brother Roman Michels, Langdon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Katie Michels, husband, Edmund (April 27, 1978), infant son, Charles, sisters, Annie Schommer, Lena Nosbusch, Veronica Schuler, Mathilda Weber, and brothers, Norbert, Alphonse, Edwin, Walter and Arthur Michels.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devils Lake, ND at 10:00 AM.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devils Lake, ND from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM with vigil service at 7:00 PM and for one hour before service on Thursday.

Interment: St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Calio, ND
