Ray Hendrickson of Rolla, ND passed away Friday July 3, 2009 at the Towner County Medical Center of Cando, ND.

Ray Kenneth Hendrickson was born April 19, 1928 to August and Mary Hendrickson. Ray was raised on a farm outside Hansboro, ND and spent most of his life farming; retiring in 2000. In December 1950 Ray was married to Darlene Olson and they had one son Daniel. Daniel is married to Carolyn and has two children, Tyler and Nikki. Ray has three grandchildren Tayna, Oyamera, and Jade.

On February 21, 1959 Ray and Connie Cahill were married in Cando and settled on the farm which Ray had been raised on his whole life. They raised their four boys in the same way Ray was raised. Timothy was born on May 23, 1959 and married Teresa Lawler in July 1983. They have three children, Gregory, Megan, and Gina. Ricky Lee was born on July 13, 1962 and married Laura Havig. They have three children, Lee, Derrick, and Peyton. Raymi Lynn was born on October 16, 1964 and married Vicky McDaniel in December 1984. They have two children, Brandon and Michelle. They also have two grandchildren, Brianna and Isaiah. Pennie Eugene was born November 1, 1968 and married Christa Gerrelle in January 1991. They have three children, Thomas, Sarah, and Rebeka.

Ray really enjoyed spending his time playing pinochle and reading western stories (sometimes 2 or 3 per day) but his passion was always for farming.

He served in the United States Army from 1947-1948. He lived on the same farmstead from the time of his birth until Ray and Connie moved into Rolla in August 2007. Farming was not just a way of life but a lifelong passion for Ray.

Ray is also survived by his sisters: Shirley Huovinen, of Hansboro, ND and Verna Matlock, of Lake Havasu City, AZ and brother Clifford Hendrickson and his wife Sue, of Glendale, CA

Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Stuart Hendrickson and sisters: Goldie Herrela, Mayme Saari, Vienna Clark, Velma Pikkarainen, Irene Nurmi and Violet Savaloja.

Military Rites will be conducted Fred C. Wagner, Post #265 Rolla American Legion.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 6, 2009 at United Methodist Church in Rolla, ND at 10 a.m. 

Visitation is Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. all in the United Methodist Church in Rolla, ND.
