Hertha Klipfel

Hertha Klipfel, 101, Cando, ND entered rest on June 28, 2010 at Towner County Living Center in Cando.

Hertha Weisz was born on May 21, 1909 near Lehr, ND. She was the 7th of 13 children born to John and Christina (Aman) Weisz. At the age of 18 she moved with her parents to Egeland, ND. On November 7, 1929 she married Reinhold Klipfel. They farmed in Egeland, Starkweather and Cando areas until 1948 at which time they moved into the city of Cando where Reinhold worked as a mechanic.

Hertha kept busy as a homemaker until the children were grown. She was an excellent cook and housekeeper. Her hands were never idle, even while watching TV she would be crocheting or knitting, etc. She worked at Morris Floral for a few years after the kids left home but was forced to retire due to health reasons.

Hertha was very active in the Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendant, Woman’s Society member and president. She also sang in the church choir and Community Chorus and was a member of the Towner County Hospital Auxiliary.

Hertha and Reinhold belonged to the Good Sam campers club for severalĀ  years and enjoyed going camping at various locations in North Dakota. They made many new friends and played a lot of pinochle.

She is survived by her 3 children, Arlene (Ray) Bergdahl of Cando; Alden (Wanda) of Bismarck, ND; Ronald (Ricki) of Nipomo, CA; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and one brother, Albert of Lacey, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold, 5 brothers and 6 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on July 2, 2010 at Cando Methodist Church, Cando at 10:30 AM.

Visitation will be held on July 1, 2010 at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a family service at 7:00 PM. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cando, North Dakota
