Richard E. Hunt, 72, Rock Lake, ND, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Towner County Medical Center, Cando, ND.
Richard Everett Hunt was born on March 5, 1937 to Harvey and Florence (Hoyme) Hunt at rural Rock Lake, ND. Richard was raised and attended Virginia Country School. After he finished school, Richard went to work for an area farmer. He then went to work at the local elevator. Richard married Claudia Mae Gebur on September 6, 1957 at Rock Lake. After their marriage, the couple moved to Montana, where Richard worked for a farmer/rancher. Richard loved to work with horses. In 1958, they moved back to Rock Lake and worked for another farmer until they went on their own and farmed. Richard retired from farming in 1985 then went to work for Towner County as a road maintenance worker for 18 years until he retired in 2003.
Richard loved to ride horses and snowmobiles. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards, shooting pool, and having his grandchildren around along with anyone else who wanted to visit. Richard was on the Virginia Township Board for 30 years.
Richard is survived by his wife, Claudia, of Rock Lake; his children: Cindy Hunt of Longview, WA, Randy (Carol) Hunt of Cando, Mark (Darla) Hunt of Rock Lake and Brenda (Danny) Boucher of Rolette, ND. Other survivors include his grandchildren: Mindy Hunt, Sally Hunt, Christina Hunt, Randy Hunt Jr., Adam Hunt and Cody Hunt, Tucker Boucher, Jake Boucher and Brenna Boucher; Brother Orin (Jean) Hunt of Thief River Falls, MN; Sisters-in-law: Anna Hunt of Rock Lake, Clarabel (Art) Fazekas of Tucson, AZ, Janice (Phil) Rood of Albuquerque, NM and Diane (Cal) Benneweis of Hensel, ND and brother-in-law: Wayne (Darlene) Gebur of Surrey, ND. Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren: Megan Hunt and Jacques Boucher; 6 brothers, 3 sisters and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church, Rock Lake, ND.
Inurnment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rock Lake in the spring
