Lonnie Haus

Apollonia Marie Leier, 91, Cando, ND formerly of South St. Paul, MN died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Towner County Living Center, Cando.

Apollonia “Lonnie” Marie Haus was born September 6, 1918 to Mathias and Justina (Schmitz) Haus in Calio, ND. She lived with her parents after they left their farm and moved to Calio, Cando, and Jordan, MN. She joined her sister Ann in Minneapolis in 1943 or 1944 and worked at a telephone assembling company. Lonnie married Edwin Leier in 1965, and they lived in St. Paul. She came to Cando January 4, 2010 and moved into the Towner County Living Center.

Lonnie loved going on walks and dancing. She was an animal lover and did a lot of dog and cat-sitting.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Ed, Bert, John, Alex, August and Math (February 20, 2010) ; sisters: Natalia “Mae” Hammer, Ann Evans and Marie Haus.

Memorial Service will be Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando.

Inurnment will be in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Calio, ND in the spring.
