Mamie L. Michels
Mamie L. Michels, 83, Cando, ND, formerly of Bisbee, ND died Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Towner County Medical Center, Cando.
Mamie Learline Edmonds was born on November 20, 1925 to Thomas and Mamie (Saunders) Edmonds at Starkville, Mississippi, where she grew up and attended school. After graduation, she was a waitress at a local café where she met Elmer Michels. Elmer and Mamie were married on October 23, 1942 at Jackson, Mississippi. The couple moved to Bisbee, where Mamie was a homemaker and a waitress at the Chocolate Shop for many years. In 1964, she got a job as the head cook at the Bisbee Public School, which she did until she retired in 1996. Mamie entered the Towner County Living Center in 2009.
Mamie was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Ladies Aid, lifetime member of the Legion Auxiliary and of the Bisbee Senior Center.
Mamie is survived by her four sons: Tom (Jolinda), of Moorhead, MN, Danny (Linda), of Globe, AZ, Alan and Ron (Debbie), both of Chanhassen, MN; 10 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren and her sister Laura (Ray) Bach, of Starkville, Mississippi.
Besides her husband, Elmer, Mamie was preceded in death by her son Bill Michels, daughters Patty Michels and Peggy Blake, parents, brother Thomas Edmonds, sister Mary Robinson and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, August 14, 2009 10:00 AM Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Bisbee
Vigil Service and Rosary: Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the church
Visitation: Thursday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday
Interment: Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Bisbee
