Merle Milton Price, 97, Cando, ND died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Towner County Living Center, Cando.

Merle Milton Price was born to Milton and Amanda (Vogel) Price on November 9, 1912 on the family farm in Armourdale Township. Merle farmed on the home place and also helped neighbors whenever there was a need. On December 6, 1952 Merle married Gertrude Hauschulz Broderick, and they farmed for many years on the home place four miles south of Rock Lake. They retired in 1974 to Cando and lived in Charlie and Edie Dix Featherock Apartment for many years. In 2003, they moved to Prairie View Estates in Cando, and Merle entered the Towner County Living Center in February 2010.

Merle served on the Rock Lake Lutheran Church board as financial secretary for many years and helped with the building (from start to finish) of the church in Rock Lake. He also served on the Cando Lutheran Church Board and the Rock Lake Elevator Board for many years.

Merle and Gertie spent many fun summers at their cabin on Lake Upsilon. They both loved to fish and entertained many family and friends at the lake. After retirement they did extensive traveling throughout the United States. Merle was usually busy working on something – he took great pride in his rock collection and made lots of belt buckles and jewelry for his friends and family.

Merle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gertie, sister Mildred Carter, and brother Melvin Price.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and dear family friends Jim and Val Howard.

Visitation: Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
