Warner “Irish” Gores, 87, longtime Egeland area farmer, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Towner County Living Center of Cando, ND.
Warner was born September 13, 1922 to Louis and Stella (Walsh) Gores. He received his education at Bisbee, ND and began working for area farmers. Warner entered the United States Army on April 28, 1944. Upon his Honorable Discharge he returned to the area and again worked with area farmers. In the mid 1950’s he rented some land in Crocus Township and began farming. He was able to purchase the land in 1960 and farmed with his brother Lester. Warner was a farmer at heart and continued working the land until the age of 85. He also enjoyed heading into town to the service station to have coffee and thoroughly enjoyed attending farm auctions. Warner was a hard worker who was devoted to his farm and working on the machinery. He spent the last month at the Towner County Living Center.
Warner is survived by his siblings: Pearl Krueger of Egeland, ND; James Gores of Egeland, ND; William (Margaret) Gores of Milwaukee, WI; Larry (Janice) Gores of Bisbee, ND, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Walter Gores, Edna Drewel, Viola Wood, Lester Gores, and Francis Gores.
SERVICES Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Dunnigan Dix Funeral Home of Cando, ND.
