About Us


Robert Norton
Robert was raised on a farm near Carrington, ND. He graduated from Carrington High School in 1992 and from Valley City State University with a degree in Business Management and Marketing in 1996. Upon graduation, he moved to Gresham, Oregon and attended Mt. Hood Community College earning his degree in Mortuary Science in 1997. After passing the National Boards, he briefly worked in Rapid City, SD before serving his apprenticeship in Mahnomen, MN. Once receiving his Minnesota and North Dakota licenses, he moved to Cando, ND and has served the area since 1998.
He enjoys the outdoors such as hunting, fishing, golf, and softball. He also is an avid bowler and simply enjoys spending time with community activities and the people. He serves on the Cando Park Board. Other memberships include the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.

Dean Steinwand and Marnie Brooks Steinwand
Dean and Marnie are honored to be able to carry on the services of Dunnigan Dix Funeral Home. Marnie is a third generation licensed funeral director. True respect for the families she serves, complete attentiveness and competency are at the top of her list of priorities. Dean and Marnie have a true love of funeral service and the difference it can make in the lives of grieving families.
Dean has a business degree with a major in accounting. He is currently in banking, having previously worked with the FDIC and the Department of the Treasury with the Office of the Comptroller of Currency. Having grown up on a farm, he was a perfect fit for the monument services of Dunnigan Dix. He handles the freighting, setting and installation of the monuments.
