Alice Marie Sager, 93, of Devils Lake, ND, formerly of Starkweather, ND passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake, ND. Services will be held at a later date.

Alice Belisle was born March 3, 1920 in St. Paul, MN to William and Sadie (Bishop) Belisle. She moved to the St. John, ND area and was united in marriage to Warren Sager on January 29, 1938 in Rolla, ND. The couple moved to California for some time and then returned to the St. John area. They moved to a farm East of Starkweather. The couple quit farming and moved into Starkweather. They both were employed by the Starkweather Public School. Warren passed away February 24, 1983. Alice continued to make Starkweather her home until the winter of 2011 when she moved into the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake, ND.

Alice is survived by her sons William (Janice) Sager of Devils Lake, ND; Robert (Mary) Sager of Bemidji, MN; Ronald (Myrtle) Sager of Wimbledon, ND; Daryl (Nancy) Sager of Cando, ND; Craig (Lori) Sager of Mandan, ND; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, infant daughter, and brothers: Louie, Alvin, Raymond and Harry Belisle and a sister Sadie.

First please accept our condolences. Aunt Alice was a dear, sweet person and always so kind to me and my family. We had a great visit with Aunt Alice some time ago. Our daughter, Rachelle was a pen pal with Aunt Alice for a time and she was always so kind to write her back. Sometimes in the winter when we thought it would be really snowy and cold in North Dakota we would send Aunt Alice fruit from California, like oranges and pears or peaches. She always called to tell us how much she enjoyed it. It was such a treat to hear from her. We will all miss her and I am sure that is especially true for her children and grandchildren. I am so sad to hear about Alice's passing. She was such a kind, gentle lady. She always had a smile to share with those around her. She touched many children's lives while working at the school.
