Arthur "Art" Fazekas, 88, Rock Lake, ND passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando, ND. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Rock Lake, ND with Rev. Rick Craig officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a family service at 7 pm. Visitation on Thursday will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Jim Jacobsen, Charles Auka, Charles Peters, Randy Hunt, Mark Hunt and Scot Benneweis. Music will be from Carolyn Heller. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rock Lake, ND.
Arthur Fazekas was born December 12, 1923, in Towner County, ND, the son of George and Mary (Pokoy) Fazekas. He grew up and attended Howell Country School in rural Rock Lake, ND. Art started to farm in the Rock Lake area as a young man. He was united in marriage to Clarabel Gebur on June 21, 1947 in Minnesota. The couple continued to farm until Art retired at the age of sixty-five. He continued to help other farmers in the area. The couple moved to Devils Lake, ND in 1996 and continued to live there until 2009 when they moved to Tucson, AZ. Art and Clarabel enjoyed coming back to Rock Lake in the summertime. Art enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and visiting with friends.
Art is survived by his wife: Clarabel Fazekas of Tucson, AZ; daughter: Marlyss Bailey of Tucson, AZ; grandsons: Chad (Sarah) Hogenson of Longview, WA, Brett Hogenson of Longview, WA, and sisters: Mary MacArthur of Devils Lake, ND and Louise Rham of Devils Lake, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Lonnie Fazekas, brothers: George, Fred and Earl Fazekas and sister: Betty Carnahan.
