Barbara Irene Oakland, 70, of Bisbee, ND passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 at her home in Bisbee. Memorial Services will be on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bisbee Lutheran Church with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Music will be provided by Mary Ellen Peters.

Barbara was born on September 1, 1944 in Cando to Leo and Cora (Christofferson) Bursinger. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bisbee Lutheran Church. After graduating from the Bisbee School, she married Arvid Oakland on June 16, 1962. They were married for over 52 years. Barbara devoted her life to the care of her immediate and extended family while being active in the community and pursuing her varied interests. She enjoyed curling, sewing, playing the piano, refinishing antique furniture, playing cards, and visiting with friends over many cups of coffee. Friends and family were priorities in her life. She loved going on camping trips with her family, trips to the casino, and kept active with walks around the neighborhood every evening, no matter how cold out! More recently, her walks were replaced with "spins around town" in her car. Barbara held several jobs including working as a cook at the school for many years, a census worker for several summers and working as a CNA at Towner County Living Center.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Arvid, and their 3 children, Kayleen (Kevin) of Bisbee, ND, Dave of Millis, MA, and Daniel (Jennifer) of Grand Forks, ND; 9 grandchildren, Yeisa (Bjorn), Austin, Nicole, Matthew, Kaylee, Madison, Rebecca, Adam, and Kjirsten and 1 great-grandson, Leif.

She is further survived by her siblings; Charles (Carol) Bursinger of Bisbee, Rodney (Joyce) Bursinger of Bottineau, Lynette (Tony) Galow of Bisbee, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Berg.
