Barbara Jane Winnegge, 71, of Cando, ND, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, OK. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Christian Fellowship Church in Cando, ND with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando, ND and for one hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday. Music will be provided by Catherine Anfinson. Casket Bearers will be her grandchildren Austin, Amanda, T.J. and Devan Winnegge. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cando, ND in the spring.

Barbara Jane Cookman was born December 29, 1947 to George and Ann (Gamec) Cookman in Cando, ND. She grew up in Bisbee, ND and graduated from Bisbee High School. She worked at McKinnon Furniture Store, Cando Public School and Cando Clinic.  She was united in marriage to Lloyd Winnegge on October 15, 1965 in Bisbee, ND. The couple made their home in Cando and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2015. Barbara found her niche as a medical transcriptionist for Towner County Medical Center in Cando, ND and Altru Clinic in Devils Lake, ND.

Barbara enjoyed gardening, sewing, walks, bicycle riding, reading, watching her grandsons play hockey, spending time with her pets, adult coloring books and spending time walking the beach in Padre Island, TX.

Barbara is survived by her husband Lloyd Winnegge of Cando, ND, daughter, Christine (Dale) Reed of Grand Forks, ND, sons, Shannon (Sheri) Winnegge of Langdon, ND, and Travis (Kris) Winnegge of Horace, ND, grandchildren, Austin L. Winnegge, Taylor J. Winnegge, Amanda L. Winnegge, Devan Winnegge, sisters, Dorothy Waller of Raleigh, NC, and May Seibel of Harvey, ND.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brothers John and Wayne Cookman.
