Benard Knudson, 81, of Agate, ND, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center Nursing Home in Northwood, ND.

Prayer Service will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Dunnigan Dix Funeral Home of Cando, ND with visitation one hour before the time of the services.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Bisbee Lutheran Church of Bisbee, ND with visitation one hour before the time of the services.

Military Rites: Halling-Scobba Post # 129 Bisbee American Legion and North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.

Interment will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Bisbee Lutheran Cemetery of Bisbee.

Benard was born July 26, 1932, at the family farm near St. John, to Henry and Elen (Mathiason) Knudson. During his childhood, his family lived in St. John, before moving to Rolla, they then moved to Perth and eventually to Bisbee. Benard entered the United States Army in 1953. He was Honorably Discharged in 1955 and returned to the area. Benard was united in marriage to Carol (Johnson) on July 10, 1955. They made their home at Agate and became the loving parents of five children. Benard loved his family (cows included), working in his garden and his faith. He was a member of Bisbee Lutheran Church.

Benard is survived by his wife Carol of Agate, children: Doreen (Tom) Steenerson of Grand Forks, ND; Bob Schneider of Grand Forks, ND; Donna(Chris) Jones of Agate, ND; Leo (Cate) Knudson of Thompson, ND; Lonny Knudson of Grand Forks, ND; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, siblings: Edward Knudson of Cando, ND; Elenora (Elmer) Pfeifle of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Vernon (Norene) Knudson of Tioga, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Arnold, Kenneth, Willard, Marvin and Larry, daughter Denise Schneider, granddaughter Ericka Knudson and other beloved family members.

The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers.
