Berdina Viola Berg, 93, of Cando, ND, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Towner County Living Center in Cando, ND.  Services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 2 pm at Cando Lutheran Church with Rev. Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 5 to 7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cando, ND. Serving as Casket Bearers for Berdina will be Dale Reed, David Reed, Monty Miller, Justin Miller, Janelle Lord, Trudy Kanwischer, Dona Lord and Marlys Lord Carlson. Music will be from Dick and Lynette Lybeck.

Berdina Viola Jones was born February 9, 1919 in Grimmell, ND, the daughter of Velorious E. and May Irene (Wickwire) Jones. She was raised and graduated from Tioga High School as the class valedictorian. She was united in marriage to Martin B. Berg on March 23, 1938 at Wolf Point, MT. The couple moved to rural Cando in 1939 where they farmed for over fifty years. Berdina also worked at the Towner County Memorial Hospital for over twenty years. The couple retired and then moved to Cando. Martin passed away January 1, 1990. Berdina entered the Towner County Living Center in 2009.

Berdina is survived by her daughters: Janice (Darrel) Reed, Myrna (Richard) Lord and Bernice (Henri) Miller of Cando, ND; brother-in-law: Kenneth (Joyce) Berg of Cheyenne, WY; sister-in-law: Doris Berg of Fargo, ND; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents Velorious and May, sister Violet Granly and brother-in-law Harold Granly.

Berdina and Martin loved to dance (especially the Waltz) and spent winters in Truth or Consequences, NM for a few years. She was a member of the Cando Senior Citizens, Cando Lutheran Church and the Cando Lutheran Quilters. Family, music, gardening and church were very important to her.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Cando Lutheran Church.
