Beulah Gawen, 98, of Cando, and formerly of Rock Lake, ND, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Towner County Living Center of Cando, ND.

Beulah was born January 18, 1915 at Holloway, Minnesota, to Fred and Dena (Sachs) Hallaway. The family lived at Holloway until March of 1928, when they moved to Rock Lake, ND. Beulah was united in marriage to John Gawen on November 28, 1934. They made their home and farmed near Rock Lake. In 1951, the moved into Rock Lake and continued farming until 1978 when ill health forced John to retire. The family farm was continued by their son Kenneth. Beulah spent 36 years employed in various businesses in Rock Lake.

Beulah was a very social person and loved to visit. If you stopped by for coffee, you might end up with supper too. She always had bars and loved to entertain guests. She and John enjoyed fishing in Canada in the summers.

She is survived by her son Kenneth, brother Allen, sister-in-law Florence Hallaway and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, brothers Cortland, Robert, Harry and a sister, Ruth Forseth.

Services will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the All Nations Lutheran Church of Rock Lake, ND with Pastor Scott Ramey officiating. Music will be from Carolyn Heller.

Interment: All Nations Cemetery, Rock Lake, ND



Condolences:

Beulah was my aunt and godmother (my mother, Ruth Forseth's sister).  I now live in an Austin, Texas, suburb, and will not be able to attend the funeral.  She was always a loving and caring, hard-working person, who really enjoyed people.  She especially loved all the nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.  They brought her much joy. I will miss her loving hugs.  May she find joy in the peace of heaven with her Savior and loved ones.  Joanne I. Forseth
