Clayton Stacey Krueger, 71, of Devils Lake, ND and formerly of Egeland, ND, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at his home in Devils Lake under the care of his loving family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Clayton fought a courageous battle after being diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in January 2019. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, ND with Pastor Lori Pankratz officiating. Music will be provided by Dan Nybo and Stacy Soukup. Honorary bearers will be Clayton's nephews, Derrick Leas, Craig Leas, Chad Leas and David Connelly. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the Arndt Cemetery. Clayton was born May 21, 1951 in Cando, ND to Harold and Pearl (Gores) Krueger.  He graduated from Egeland High School in 1969 and then attended Hanson Auto School in Fargo, ND. While working at Farmers Union Oil Company in Rock Lake, he met the love of his life, Karen Eckholm, the boss's daughter. Clayton and Karen were married on June 28, 1974 at All Nations Lutheran Church in Rock Lake, ND. The couple lived in Rock Lake until 1981 when they moved to a farm near Egeland where they raised their family. As a jack of all trades, he held many jobs including farmer, mechanic, truck driver, and Towner County Deputy Sheriff. Clayton was also proud to have served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. Starting in the late 1980's, he worked in maintenance at North Central Grain until his retirement. In December 2014, the couple moved to a lake home near Devils Lake.

Clayton was a hard worker who could fix anything and enjoyed working on something all the time. He enjoyed working on many projects with his brother Tim. He loved traveling, camping, participating in car club activities, playing cards, board games, spending time with his family especially with his granddaughters who referred to him as 'Poppa'. Clayton loved his family and was especially proud of them.

Clayton is survived by his wife Karen of Devils Lake, ND; sons Kevin (Mandi) Krueger of Longmont, CO; Keith (Stasa) Krueger of Odenton, MD; brother Tim (Becky) Krueger of Egeland, ND; granddaughters Chloe Krueger of Longmont, CO; Kali Krueger of Odenton, MD; sisters-in-law Diane (Dennis) Leas of Cando, ND, Elaine Connelly of Annandale, MN; nephews Derrick (Carol) Leas, Craig (Sheri) Leas, Chad (Amy) Leas, David (Julie) Connelly; Uncle Larry (Janice) Gores; a goddaughter Danel Bennett, and countless friends.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents Harold & Pearl Krueger, grandparents, brother-in-law Joe Connelly, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, Arndt Cemetery or St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
