Cordelia G. Slusser, 92, Devils Lake, ND, formerly Cando, ND, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Cando Lutheran Church with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Cando. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Music will be by Catherine Anfinson and Roberta Mundahl.

Cordelia Genevieve Sonstelie was born April 6, 1922 on a farm near Winger, MN, the daughter of Emil and Josephine (Lecy) Sonstelie. She attended schools at Winger and graduated from McIntosh High School. She then moved to Cando and was employed at the telephone switchboard and the First State Bank of Cando. Cordelia married Lloyd Slusser on June 8, 1947. They farmed east of Cando for 32 years until they retired in 1978 and moved into Cando. They remained in Cando for 25 years, enjoying ten winters in Mesa, AZ, until moving to Devils Lake.

She was a member of the Cando Lutheran Church, WELCA, Homemakers, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her number one priority was always her family. They loved her cooking, especially her wonderful pies and pickles. Cordelia loved to dance and also enjoyed crocheting, counted cross stitch, embroidery and sewing. She was able to design her own patterns by the age of 12. Dolls, cats, flowers and watching the birds were all very special to her.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lloyd Slusser of Devils Lake, ND, daughters Julie (Allan) Wood of Cando, ND, JoAnn (Dave) Heisler of Devils Lake, ND, sons Jim (Sallie) Slusser of Cando, ND, Jon (Joan) Slusser of Jamestown, ND, Jerry (Trudy) Slusser of Rapid City, SD, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and sister Joyce Pierson of Fertile, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Orvin Sonstelie.
