David Edward Lang was born June 28, 1958, the fourth of six children, to Margaret and Roman Lang, at the Towner County Memorial Hospital in Cando. He attended school in Egeland and completed a carpentry program at Lake Region College in Devils Lake. On July 19, 1986, David married Carol Rader at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cando. Together they had a daughter, Gretchen, and a son, Michael. David always made a living with his hands. For the first ten years of their marriage, David farmed. He then worked in area agricultural related businesses. David had a passion for his cattle, and haying was a summer priority. David was also a meticulous carpenter, recently completing an extensive remodeling project in their home. Working with and fixing on old John Deere tractors were both part of his farming life and enjoyment as a side interest. His scale model replica collection of older style John Deere tractors reflected this interest. David adored his two grandchildren and many times his little shadow, Gavin, was at his side on the farm, complete with his own tools provided by Grandpa Dave. David was involved with the Towner County Historical Society, a member of the Egeland Volunteer Rural Fire Department, and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
David is survived by his wife of almost 28 years, Carol; daughter Gretchen (fiancé Chris Klier) of Cando, son Michael, Egeland; grandson Gavin, granddaughter Alivia; mother Margaret; sisters Kathleen (John) Lee and JoAnn(Steve) Klevenberg; brothers Thomas (Jill Weed), John, and Jerald (Robin); mother-in-law Dorothy Rader, brother-in-law Gary (Nancy) Rader and sister-in-law Paula (Preston Stewart) Charron; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his father, Roman; father-in-law, Charles Rader; and niece, Katie Snyder.
