Delores Martz was born on October 1, 1931 to Casper Clinton and Emma Marguerite (Copelan) Martz in Calvin, ND. Delores spent her childhood on the family farm near Calvin, ND. She met and married the love of her life, Jack Heldt, on October 5, 1949. The couple raised three daughters and farmed for many years north of Egeland.
Delores spent many hot harvest days hauling grain from the fields to the bin with her girls by her side. She loved to garden and care for her flowers. She was an active member of the Egeland Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid and a Handy Helpers 4H Club Leader. As a mother, of three girls, and 4H Leader she spent many hours at the sewing machine working her magic, sometimes late into the night making lots of prom and bridesmaid dresses and cheerleading outfits. She also created beautiful handwork with her tatting, crocheting, knitting, and hardanger.
In 2009 she became a resident of Cando, ND. There she met her very special and dear friends Ardella, Dorothy, and Barb at Country Manor and she always looked forward to the days when she could go to senior meals.
Delores is survived by her children Cheryl (Terry) Kulik of Filer, ID and Patricia (Steve) Cook of Stockton, KS; son-in-law Gary Shock of Cando, ND; grandchildren Marcia (Russ) Young, Kirby Kulik, Travis (Lexi) Shock, Traci (Jason) Lura, Ryan (Jordan) Cook, Kayla (Noe) Gillespie; great-grandchildren Brielle, Jillian, Cassie, Baylee, Jaedyn, Ashleigh, Charlie, Emma, Lorelei, Tenley, Joseph, Benson and many special nieces and nephews; sisters Marlys, June and Emilee.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, daughter Lynette, sister Loretta, brothers Howard, Dale, and Kenneth.
