Delores Adele Volden, 90, Cando ND, passed peacefully Monday April 22, 2013, with family by her side, at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Cando Lutheran Church in Cando with Rev. Bonnie Weaver, officiating Interment will be at Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural Penn, ND at a later date. Casket bearers will be Mark Horner, Shawn Widman, Bradlee Matthews, Travis Tofsrud, Cole Miller and Kristopher Volden. Music will be from Esther Sailer and Joni Morlock,. Visitation will be held at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. with a 7 pm prayer service and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.
Delores was born November 24, 1922 in Fargo North Dakota, the second of four children to George and Anna (Knutson) Lunde. She grew up on the farm in Maza and attended school in Churches Ferry. After high school she worked at Lockheed in Burbank, CA returning to ND where she worked at Maves Optical in Grand Forks. Delores was united in marriage to Harley Volden on July 28, 1946 at Devils Lake. The couple resided in Rolla, Maddock and eventually made Cando their home where they raised their eight children. Delores had a great love for her children and grandchildren, they were her first priority. She lived her life for her family and was always there for those who needed her. Delores was active as a member of Cando Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Al Anon. After retirement, Delores and Harley spent many long hours making and selling lefse to the community. She volunteered for many years at the Towner County Medical Center Foot Clinic and at the Rest Haven Manor now known as the Towner County Living Center where she resided since 2010.
She is survived by her children: Marilyn Matthews of Susanville, CA, Warren (Ruth) Volden of Grand Forks, ND, Lavonne (Ralph) Matthews of Cando, ND, Cheryl (Bill) Widman of Reynolds, ND, Connie (Chris) Smith of Cranberry Portage, MB, Cathy (Monty) Miller, Sandi Volden and Jerry Volden of Cando, ND; half-sister Ardis (Marvin) Callahan, Mayville, ND; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harley; parents George and Anna; brothers: Glen, Arnold, and Victor; half-brother Curtis (Donna) Helleckson and grandson Troy Tofsrud.

To the Family of Delores Volden, May the love of God surround you during this time of sorrow. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I met Delores in 1984 when we lived in Cando from 1984-1986. She was wonderful to us and was always there to lend a helping hand as well as listening ears. She will always be remembered.
