Donald John Sand 77, Egeland, ND formerly of Cando, ND passed away peacefully at his home on December 20, 2018.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Honorary bearers will be Donald's grandchildren: Travis Sand, Jenny Sand, KellyJo Snavely, Andrew Sand and Brittany Sand.

Donald John Sand was born February 14, 1941 to Leo and Lucille (Ulrich) Sand. On November 12, 1960 Donald married his one true love Sharon Hunt. To this union they have three sons: Michael, Scott and Jonathan. After moving back to Cando from Denver in 1978 the family opened and operated the Sand Bar and Pizza Place. He also owned Sand Concrete and other businesses.

Donald had a great love for working on old cars and tinkering on everything. He was definitely a jack of all trades. In later years Donald and Sharon made their home on a farm by Egeland, ND, until Sharon's death in 2014.

Donald is survived by his sons: Michael (Melody) Sand of Firestone, CO, Scott Sand of Ardoch, ND, and Jonathan Sand of Egeland, ND. Five grandchildren: Travis Sand of Devils Lake, ND, Jenny Sand of Cando, ND, KellyJo (Braden) Snavely of Cando, ND, Andrew (Ariel) Sand of Devils Lake, ND and Brittany Sand of Firestone, CO. And four great-grandchildren: Alexis Houle, Carson Snavely, Rylan Snavely and Beckham Sand. Sister Geraldine Holien of Cando, ND, and brothers: Doran (Marilyn) Sand of Grand Forks, ND, Darrell Sand of Denver, CO and Joel (Lorraine) Sand of Cando, ND, along with many nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by the love of his life of 54 years Sharon, his parents Leo and Lucille Sand, sister Katharine Baker and brother Duane Sand.
