Edmund Strand's Obituary
Edmund Strand, 94, of Bisbee, ND, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Towner County Living Center of Cando, ND.
Edmund Henry Hyndman Allenby Strand was born February 14, 1919 in Grainfield Township to John and Marie (Erickson) Strand. He was baptized and confirmed at Bisbee Lutheran Church and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1937. He farmed at home with his parents, who had, at the time,one of the top-producing Holstein herds in the state of ND. He was also active in township and county boards. Edmund married Ingrid Steine, of Lillehammer, Norway, at Devils Lake, ND on January 28, 1953. They made their home on the farm north of Bisbee where his grandparents homesteaded and where he was born. Edmund farmed until he was 80 and then continued to be involved in the farm. Edmund and Ingrid celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2013.
Edmund is survived by his wife, Ingrid, nieces and nephews: John (Elaine) Strand, Mary Lou (Neil) Hillesland, Ron (Marly) Dittmer, Dave (Bonnie) Dittmer, Darrel Dittmer, Roberta Hoper, Carol (Eldred) Oakland, Donna ((James) Bucher, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Edmund was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Christine Strand, Elmer (Helen) Strand, Alice (Ervin) Dittmer, and Orville (Dorothea) Strand.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 2:00pm, at the Bisbee Lutheran Church of Bisbee, ND, with the Reverend Bonnie Weaver officiating.

My heartfelt sympathy to you, Ingrid, and his family. A great man has left this plane of life and has left us all with wonderful memories of him. I always looked forward to visiting with Edmund when he came in for dental appointments. Edmund was so well read and always was enlightening me on so many topics. He loved life, God first, his lovely wife, Ingrid, his extended family, his farm, old cars…..the list goes on and on! I will miss this remarkable man and smile when I think of him.
