Edward E. Knudson, 84, of Cando, ND passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Perth Cemetery in Perth, ND with Reverend Bonnie Weaver officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando. Military Honors will be provided by the Hal Parker Post #79 Cando American Legion and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. Casket bearers are Edward's grandsons: Travis Sand, Andrew Sand, Jarvis Knudson, Alex Knudson, Tucker Knudson, Kyler Knudson and Jayden Knudson. Honorary bearers are Edward's granddaughters: Krista, Jenny, Shannon, Kelly Jo, Heather, Julia and Kaylee.

Memorials in Edward's name are preferred to the Cando Lutheran Church, PO Box 644, Cando, ND 58324.

Edward Elmer Knudson was born June 30, 1936 in Cando to Henry and Ellen (Mathiason) Knudson. He was raised and attended school in Perth. He was united in marriage to Barbara Lucille Kjellerson on January 15, 1960. To this marriage they had four children: Lavern, Keith, Michael and Teresa. The couple made their home in Cando and lived in a house that was built by Edward and his family.

Edward served in the Army and worked for Cass Clay Creamery, where he retired after 35 years. He was also a janitor at Cando Lutheran Church for many years. In his later years Ed loved woodworking and tending to his garden. He built a shed where he spent most of his time making bird houses and outdoor decorations for Barb. He was a member of Sons of Norway, American Legion Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

Edward is survived by his sons: LaVern (Dama) Knudson of Grand Forks, ND; Keith (Ione) Knudson of Kulm, ND; Michael (Kathy) Knudson of Rapid City, SD; and daughter, Teresa (Gary) Weber of Cando; 14 grandchildren: Travis, Krista, Jenny, Shannon, Kelly Jo, Heather, Julia, Jarvis, Kylar, Kaylee, Andrew, Alex, Tucker and Jaden; and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister: Elenora Pfeifle of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and brother: Vernon Knudson of Tioga, ND, along with many nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Barbara; grandson, Christopher Michael Knudson; and brothers: Arnold, Benard, Kenneth, Willard, Marvin and Larry.
