Eileen (Clark) Eggl (100) was born July 1, 1913 to Albert & Mary (Cookson) Clark at Clyde, ND. When she was 3-years-old, her parents moved to a farm at Cando, ND, and she lived the rest of her life in the Cando community. She attended Minot Teachers College and then taught country school.

Eileen married John Eggl Sept. 18, 1935. They farmed their whole life in Atkins Township & moved into Cando in 1974. They were very active in the Sacred Heart Church, community & state.Eileen was named ND Mother of the year in 1971. She was an active member of Altar Society, Christian mothers, taught Sunday School & CCD, MAC Homemakers, PTA, Garden Club, Hospital Auxiliary, Living Center Nursing Home Auxiliary, and State Soil Conservation Auxiliary. She always had a big garden with lots of canning, freezing & jam making. She raised a lot of chickens, fed many hired men & sewed lots of clothes along with raising her 8 children. God, family, music and reading were a central part of her life.

Surviving Eileen are 7 of her 8 children: Margaret (Lennie) Raddohl, Catherine (Eugene) Haus, John C. (Diane) Eggl, Mary (Dennis) Klinge, Virginia (Pat) Crotty, Wilhelmina "Billie" (Garry) Goergen, Jim (Sue) Eggl; son-in-law Gunay (Kerry) Raghib; sister-in-law Janet Eggl; 33 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Eileen was predeceased by her loving husband John (1987), daughter Eileen Diane (Eggl) Raghib (1991), grandson Metin Raghib (1991), parents Albert & Mary Clark (1965) and her only sibling Kenneth Clark (1991).

Eileen passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Towner County Living Center in Cando. Her family would like to thank all those who took such good care of their mother and for her many friends and family. She is now at home with her Lord.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Dec. 7th, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cando at 10:30 a.m. with Father Joseph D'Aco and Deacon James Eggl celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be Friday, December 6th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cando, ND followed by a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Cando. Visitation will also continue on Saturday for one hour prior to the services in the church. Casket Bearers will be her grandchildren: Christopher Eggl, Jon Haus, Ender Raghib, Tom Raddohl, Theresa Klinge and Patricia Raddohl. Eileen's 33 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren will be Honorary Casket Bearers. Music will be provided by Gladys Fluge, JoLynn Klinge and the Sacred Heart Choir.



Family requests memorials to the Cando Public Library, Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund or the donor's choice.

Sorry to hear about Eileen.  I knew she had turned 100 because cousin Donald Eggl had told Arden Berggren(my brother) about the party. My mom, Nina Berggren(Lillian Eggl's sister-in-law) is living with us now in Carson, ND and she is 95. It was fun seeing Jim Eggl at Uncle Joe's auction sale. Jim worked very hard to make that a success. Then it was nice that he was a Deacon at Joe's funeral. I remember "get togethers" we had at Joes and I remember John & Eileen coming to our house at the farm near Nekoma. Lillian said that Eileen was the "sister she never had". I was one of your mother's caregivers...she was an intelligent woman, who had many old sayings about the philosophies of life. I worked with her the night before she passed; Eileen's refusal of food and fluids that day were the signs....that she was at peace with herself..and ready for her next journey. She had a calmness about her...you felt it when entering her room...as I tucked her in, she wanted me to pray with her... so I sat down beside her and we started with the 'our father'.... when we were done praying... i told her, 'your at peace, take care,....as I kissed her forehead. The short time she was at tclc, she touched my heart.
