Obituary

Emil Alvin Lee Jr., 77, of Rolette, ND passed away on April 9, 2024 at Towner County Medical Center in Cando, ND surrounded by his family.  A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church in Rolette, ND with Pastor Gene Wilson Officiating.  A family service will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by the visitation all at the church on Monday.  Burial will take place at the Rolette Cemetery at a later date.

Emil was born in Rolette, ND on February 22. 1947 to Emil Alvin Lee Sr. and Doris (Slough) Lee.  He was the oldest of eight children.  He attended Rolette Public School and worked at Rolette Mobile with his dad until eventually buying it.  This is where he met the love of his life Bonnie Vangen. They had two beautiful daughters Amber and Anne.  He worked on the oil rigs with his brother, Ole, but after a few years he decided that was enough and went to work at Noodles by Leonardo until he retired.  Most of his retirement was spent with family.  Emil liked watching his grandkids in every sport they played and also bringing them to the park or to the Cenex for ice cream.  His daughters were his pride and joy, but his grandkids were the light in his eyes.

He liked to work on cars and would help in any way he could. Being stubborn and set in his ways is how we all came to know and love him. He will be missed dearly.

Emil is survived by his daughters Amber Vangen of Cando, ND and Anne Vangen of Cando, ND; Amber's children Carley (Mike Hoffman) Moore of St. Cloud, MN, Kansas Moore, Autumn Vangen, Jax Vangen, Axl Vangen and Anne's son Trevor Vangen all of Cando, ND; brother Carl (Marla) Lee of Bottineau, ND; sisters Susan Brakke of Minto, ND and Kandis (Jamie) Kittleson of Bottineau, ND.  Emil was preceded in death by his parents; his life partner Bonnie Vangen; grandparents, 2 brothers Oluf and Daniel Lee and two sisters Jane Geyer and Judy Kvernum.
