Eugene Charles Dick was born in Langdon, North Dakota, on December 8, 1939, to Charles and Mathilda (Wengeler) Dick. He grew up on a farm in Nekoma and attended school in Nekoma and Langdon, ND. The family later moved to Devils Lake, where he graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1957. In 1968, he earned his associate's degree from Lake Region Junior College, Devils Lake, ND.

Eugene met and married the love of his life, Marjorie Nelson, on July 19, 1958. They made their home in Lakewood, near Devils Lake, North Dakota, where they built a life together. He cherished time spent playing cards, camping, fishing, working on cars, leading Bible studies, and sharing stories with family and friends. After retiring, they lived in Cando, North Dakota. They were married for 61 years before her passing in 2019. He worked in the insurance business for over 40 years. Later in life, he drove the Cando transit van, where he met and cared for many people and was deeply loved by those he served.

Eugene had a strong faith and a deep passion for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He sent daily morning Bible verses to friends and family. He was a caring and generous man who was always willing to lend a hand. Whether offering a ride or helping someone through a difficult time, Eugene was there for others. He lived with an open heart, often giving things away and quietly paying it forward in ways that made a lasting difference in the lives of those around him.
