Eugene "Gene" Willard Close, 80 of Devils Lake formerly of Cando, ND passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake. Memorial Services will be on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando with Pastor Rick Craig officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cando, ND. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.

Eugene "Gene" Willard Close was born March 23, 1935 in Cando, North Dakota the son of Willard and Florence (Arthur) Close. He attended school in Cando, ND. He was united in marriage to LaVonne Olson on March 23, 1957 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. Eugene worked in the farming industry for most of his life. He liked being outdoors, doing yardwork and fixing things. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his sons: Kim (Joanne) Close of Devils Lake, ND; Ken Close of Alexandria, MN; and Korrie Close of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Kara, Kristopher, Christopher, Misty, Jacob, Travis and Callie; four great grandchildren and sister Dianne (Clinton) Weisz of Cando, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kimberly, grandson Kristopher and half-brother and his wife, Rolland and Alice Hamman.
