Genevieve "Gen" Brehm, 84, Cando, ND, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Towner County Living Center in Cando. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando, ND, with Rev. Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cando. Casket bearers will be Doug Howard, Wade Farbo, Nick Brehm, Tobin Welch, Lee Brehm and Mark Brehm. Honorary casket bearers will be Sonny Welch, Wes Welch, Bill Steele, Shorty Steele, David Steele and Tom Steele.
Genevieve Elaine Welch was born July 30, 1930 in Rugby, North Dakota to Blanchard and Myrtle (Storberg) Welch. She was one of 10 children. She graduated from Minot High and worked for Trinity Hospital as a telephone operator until moving to Cando and working for the Cando Bakery for her father. She met Everett Brehm and they were married in 1953 and later moved to Churchs Ferry where they raised 4 children: Ginger Steltzer, Mark Brehm, Dori Gillis and Lee Brehm. Gen and Everett moved to Cando in early 1980's where she operated the Sammy's Clothing Store for a time. Her hobbies were golfing, bowling, dealing black jack, bridge and knitting. She enjoyed going to Weslaco, Texas in the winter time as well.
She is survived by her children, 9 grandkids, 6 great-grandchildren, brother Sonny Welch and sister Shirley Howard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and five sisters.
