Glenda Mcconnell's Obituary
Glenda McConnell, 66, of Rock Lake, ND passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando, ND. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Rock Lake, ND with Rev. Rick Craig officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Rock Lake Community Cemetery in Rock Lake, ND. Casket Bearers will be Everett McConnell, Allan Knutt, Greg Mitchell, Danny Krumweide, Terry Carter and Gary Heller. Music will be provided by Darlene Aronson and Diane O'Brien.
Glenda was born April 16, 1951 to George and June (Winchell) Murdock in Cando, ND. She was raised and educated in Rock Lake, ND and graduated from the Rock Lake High School in 1969. Following high school, Glenda furthered her education and attended NDSU for three and a half years. Glenda was united in marriage to David McConnell on August 22, 1971 at the United Methodist Church in Rock Lake. The couple moved to Minnesota where David accepted a teaching position and Glenda worked as a meat processor. Shortly after, Glenda and David purchased a grocery store and café in Hannah, ND in which she operated for nine years.
In 1983, Glenda and David moved to Rock Lake to join the family farming business. In the early 90's Glenda took on the task of running the Rock Lake Café and continued to do so for nearly six years. Around this same time, Glenda and David partnered to build Lil' Prairie Greenhouse and operated it for 20 years, all while still working on the farm. Glenda loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Lake Havasu, AZ with her husband, David, for the last 13 years. She also loved her long walks, reading, gardening, baking and spending time with her family. Glenda was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Lake.
Glenda is survived by her husband of 45 years, David; her mother, June (Winchell) Murdock; her children, Chris McConnell of Rock Lake, ND and Karen McConnell of Shakopee, MN; and her sister, Laura Rensvold of Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her father, George V. Murdock.
