Harley Perich, 89, of Devils Lake and Formerly of Cando, ND, passed away Monday, January 22, 2013 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 beginning at 5pm with a 7pm Prayer Service at the Dunnigan Dix Funeral Home of Cando, ND. Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Assembly of God Church of Cando, ND. Interment:  IOOF Cemetery of Cando, ND.

Harley was born August 13, 1923 in rural Egeland, ND, to Louis and Effie (Price) Perich.  He attended rural schools and then school in Rock Lake, ND.  He began working on the farm with his father.  Harley and Lavon Eileen Loucks were united in marriage on May 19, 1947 at Zion, ND.  They lived at Crocus where he farmed and they had cattle.  In 1955 they moved into Cando where Harley began his employment at the grain elevator.  He would work there until his retirement in 1985.  In 1957 they moved to their current farm where Harley built their home.  Building the home was a family project and Harley worked with precision.  They enjoyed having many different animals on their farmyard, including cows,horses, pigs, chickens and ducks.  After retirement, Harley worked for Mike Johnston on the farm in the spring and fall and also helped his son on the farm.  He enjoyed carpentry, and made many tables and chairs for his children and grandchildren.  Harley and Lavon moved to the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake in October of 2012.

Harley is survived by his wife Lavon of Devils Lake, children: Marie (Harvey) Loven of Rolla, ND; Harlen Perich of  Cando, ND;  and Lottie Amann of Cando, ND, daughter-in-law Elaine Perich of Cando, ND, grandchildren: Lennae (Devin) Patrick of Tupelo, MS; Danette (Taylor) Anderson of Apple Valley, MN; and an adopted granddaughter Danielle Glennen (Chris) Nelson, of Grand Forks, ND, brother Johnny Perich of San Diego, CA, sister Alyce Haugen of Edmore, ND, sister Lois (Ralph) Rasmussen of Bismarck, ND, brother-in-law Joe Sousa of Waterford, CT, sister-in-law Lois (Fritz) Paulsen of Bismarck, ND and  numerous nieces and nephews.

Harley was preceded in death by his son John, an infant brother Ralph, sister Joyce (Edward) Held, sister Donna Sousa, sister-in-law Louise Perich, brother-in-law Orville Haugen, son-in-law Bert Amann and his parents.
