Harley L. Peterson, 81, Cando, formerly Grand Forks, ND, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Cando, ND with Rev. Bonnie Weaver officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Hal Parker Post #79 Cando American Legion and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.

Harley L. Peterson, son of Roy and Myrtle (Hermanson) Peterson, was born on July 8, 1936 in Rugby, ND. He graduated from Cando High School in 1954. He served in the US Navy and was stationed off of the coast of Japan during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and returned to North Dakota and worked many years on computers at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. He later managed the lounge at the Dakota Hotel in Grand Forks. After the big flood in Grand Forks, he was forced to move out of his home and return to Cando. He lived in Cando until he passed away.

Harley is survived by his niece, Teri Sempf, of Maple Plain, MN.

Harley is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Myrtle; nephew, Rick Barker; and sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Elmer Barker.
