Iva Baerwald, 90, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 1, 2010 , at the Towner County Living Center in Cando after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Iva was born in Grainfield County on June 29, 1920. She was born to Adolph and Lydia (Gottschalk) Galow. She attended her 1st three years of schooling in Perth, ND and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1938.
Iva married Hugo Baerwald on April 14, 1946, celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2006. They lived on the same farm near Arndt, ND for 64 years.
Iva was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Egeland, ND transferring to All Nations Lutheran Church in Rock Lake, ND. She was a Sunday school teacher for 10 years. Cooking crocheting, and quilting were her favorite things to do.
Surviving are her husband, Hugo; one daughter, Myrna (Gary) Church of West Fargo, ND; two sons, Darwin (Nancy) Baerwald of Cando, ND and Myron Baerwald of Egeland, ND; three granddaughters, Tara (Church) Clancy of Bismarck, ND, Audra (Church) Krysinski of Castle Rock, CO, and Kari (Baerwald) Erickson of Fargo, ND; one great-granddaughter, Anika Erickson; three great-grandsons, Hayden Erickson, Ryan Clancy, and Connor Clancy; two sisters, Edna Anderson of Fargo, ND and Lorraine (Gert) Baerwald of Rugby, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers - Ervin and Alvin Galow, and one grandson, Ryan Gary Church.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3 at the Dunnigan Dix Funeral Home in Cando and one hour before services on Wednesday.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. at All Nations Lutheran Church in Rock Lake, ND.
Interment - Bisbee Lutheran Cemetery, Bisbee, ND

My condolences in the loss of your mom. It has been quite a few years that have gone by, but I still remember her pleasant personality as well as always having a smile on her face with a joyful laugh when we would stop by to visit with Mryna.

I have such fond memories of spending time at Iva and Hugo's during our frequent summer vacations to North Dakota. Even though it has been many years since I last saw her, I still remember her kind spirit. She was a great cook and an ever greater lady.
