Jack was born on November 30, 1928 to John and Hilda (Lien) Larson in Bisbee ND. Jack grew up in a farming family living in Bisbee and Rock Lake ND during his academic years with his brother, Stuart and sister, Cynthia.
He graduated from Bisbee High School and attended Mayville State College while playing baseball. Jack returned to Bisbee to farm, marry his high school sweetheart and raise a family. On October 16, 1949 Jack and Lois (Held) were married and purchased their farm where they spent the rest of their 73-year marriage before Lois passed away in 2022. The two raised a family of four boys and one girl; Craig, Kevin, Cindy Kae, Kirk and Clayton.
Jack grew up farming, beginning with horse-drawn equipment until retiring when mechanized farm machinery became computerized. He enjoyed his diversified farm raising Registered Black Angus cattle and operating his feeder cattle operation. In 1962 he was awarded the North Dakota Outstanding Young Farmer Award.
Jack was an active member of Bisbee Lutheran Church; volunteering to help build the "new" sanctuary, presiding over the council, and teaching Sunday School and confirmation. He sang in numerous choirs and quartets while acquiring long lasting relationships with pastors serving congregations and fostering friendships of many members. Over the years Jack was asked to sing solos at many weddings and funerals. He also contributed by serving on the Camp Metigoshe Ministries, Towner County Soil Conservation, and other various local, county and state boards. Jack remained active by playing baseball, officiating high school basketball games, curling, and alpine and water skiing.
Jack is survived by his children, Craig (Barb) Larson, Hawley, MN; Kevin (Donna) Larson, Crosslake, MN; Cindy Kae (Gerald) Johnson, Bemidji, MN; Kirk (Tammy) Larson, Bisbee, ND; Clayton (Jane) Larson, Hawley, MN; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Held, and 6 nieces and nephews.
