Janice Wagner, age 93, of Cando ND, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at her residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Daniel Musgrave officiating. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home.

Janice was born on December 28th, 1931, in Towner County, to John Arion and Lillian Gilchrist. She grew up with her two younger brothers Gene and William Arion in the Cando area attending Cando Public School until graduating. After graduation she worked different jobs in the Cando and Devils Lake area until she married George Wagner at the Sacred Heart Church in 1952. They welcomed three children together: Kathryn, Robert, and Richard. For many years Janice helped on the family farm near Starkweather with her George and her children doing everything from cooking to running grain trucks. After George passed on May 27, 1991. Janice continued to help her sons with the farming operation.

Janice moved off the farm in December 1999 to the city of Cando after the flood. She did many different accounting jobs and sat on various boards around the community. She greatly enjoyed spending time with friends for many years.

Janice was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting the staff at the Cando Library where she took great joy in reading all of the books they had. She was also an animal lover; there were not many years where she didn't have a canine or feline companion at her side!

She is survived by her children Kathryn Wagner (Dave Johns) of Scottsdale, AZ, Robert (Nancy) Wagner of Cando, ND; her grandchildren, Nolan (Terri) Straabe of Phoenix, AZ, Mandy (Tamas) Kovacs of Windsor, CO, Randi Bergo of Phoenix, AZ, Lindsey (Jeremiah) Masterson of Cando, ND, Austin Wagner of Cando, ND, Alexis (Evan) Mickelson of Rolla, ND; step-grandson Adam Kessler of Tucson, AZ; her great-grandchildren, Taeryn Kessler, Hailey Hagel, Nolan Jr Straabe, Kylee Masterson, Avery Hagel, Colt Masterson, and Brewer Mickelson.

Janice was proceeded in death by her husband George, son Rick, brother Bill, and her parents.
