Jimmy Clive Hanson, 68, of Cavalier and formerly of Cando, ND passed peacefully from this life on February 2, 2013 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando with Rev. Michael Rohrer officiating.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.

Jimmy was born April 28, 1944 in Fergus Falls, MN, to Olie and Gloria (Grovdahl) Hanson. His family moved to Cando, ND when he was eight years old. Jimmy attended school in Cando and graduated from Cando High School with the class of 1963. After graduating, he enrolled in Jamestown College. Jimmy was united in marriage to Betty Lou Hinegardner on August 16, 1980 in Cando, ND. The couple made their home in Cavalier, ND and they later divorced. Jimmy continued to make his home in Cavalier until the time of this death.  Jimmy enjoyed fishing, reading (especially Louis L'Amour books), watching baseball and day trips to the casino with friends.  Jimmy is survived by his sister: Jackie (Dean) Blais, brother-in-law: James Uhlenkamp, nephews: Brian, Stuart, David, Michael and Jeremy Uhlenkamp, nieces: Leah Janzen, Veronica Woodrow and Sandra Reck.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Keith Hanson, sister Marlene Uhlenkamp and a brother-in-law Jerome Uhlenkamp.

Interment:  I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Cando, ND.




Condolences:

Jim & I were classmates in Class of "63.  Lots of good memories of my great friend. We entered a talent show in Leeds and sang a duet of "High Hopes".  Didn't win, but had a great time!  Would love to be in Cando for the service, but will be in Washington State.  My deepest condolences to Marlene, Jackie and families.

He will always be "James" to me. Thank you for all the times you came to our rescue at the Cedar Inn. I will truly miss our hugs and that look in your eyes when I handed you a jar of homemade chili! Rest in the peace of God's hands. My sincere condolences to all of your family.
