Obituary

Kandy K. Kennedy, 53, of Cando, N.D., passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Memorial Services will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Cando Lutheran Church with Reverend Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to the service. Music will be provided by Joni Morlock. Honorary Urn Bearers will be Lavonne Haugen, Wendy Pintar, Shirley Howard, Judy Bulie and Lorraine Sand.

Kandy Halvorson was born September 2, 1965 in Northwood, ND to Karen Halvorson Tangen and Barry Halvorson.  Kandy attended school in Northwood, where she was active in track and cheerleading, graduating in 1983. After graduation, Kandy moved to Grand Forks with her future husband, Robert Kennedy, where she worked at the Royal Fork Buffet.  On January 21, 1984, Kandy married Robert Kennedy, of Larimore, in a small ceremony at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood, ND.  Kandy then attended college at the AVTI Technical College in East Grand Forks, MN, graduating with a Banking and Finance Degree.  After graduation, Kandy worked for Citizens State Bank in East Grand Forks, MN, until she and Bob moved to Cando in June of 1995.  Once in Cando, Kandy worked for Ramsey Bank, Ackre Law Office, Gibbens Law Office, and for the last three years worked as Deputy Clerk of Court for Towner County.  In her off-time Kandy enjoyed, camping, fishing, golf, bowling, attending her grand-daughter's events, and of course Bunco with her friends.  Kandy always enjoyed her family time, whether it was the week-long trips to Cass Lake every year, holidays at home, or spending time playing cards and cribbage.

Kandy is survived by her husband, Robert of Cando; son Zackary (Torie McTaggart), daughter Lyndsie (Darin Weisz), and grand-daughter Jaelyn, all of Cando; mother and step-father Karen and Jim Tangen of Northwood, ND; brother Tedd (Fran) Halvorson of Grand forks, ND; sister Sherry (Lowell) Alberts of Mooreton, ND; grandmother Gladys McDonald of Larimore, ND and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Barry Halvorson.
