Karen Kay Tuenge, 74. Of Cando, North Dakota passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015 surrounded by family and friends at Sanford Health Center Palliative Care in Fargo, North Dakota. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Lakeview Lutheran Church in Egeland, ND with Pastor Rob Buechler officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from noon until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at All Nations Cemetery, Rock Lake, ND. Casket bearers will be Frank Peyerl, Aaron Peyerl, Robert Mickelson, John Mortenson, Johan DuPreez and Mark Hendrickson. Music will be provided by Tom and Claudia Nikolaisen.

Karen was born on April 11, 1941 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to Chester and Bernice (Lowinske) Stimpert. She grew up and attended schools in the Sleepy Eye area. Karen graduated from Sleepy Eye High school in 1959. Growing up she was an avid horse lover and loved spending time riding and caring for her horses. She worked for Kraft Foods of New Ulm, Minnesota for many years.
Karen moved to Arizona in 1969. She worked for Motorola for several years before moving to Flagstaff where she worked for Phillips Industries for 14 years. She then moved backed to the valley where she owned and operated her own cleaning business in the Phoenix area.
Karen met her love Kenneth Tuenge in 1982 and they were married in that same year.
She loved gardening and took special pride in her tomato plants. These were her number one in the garden. They had to be as they were the main ingredient in her prized salsa. Karen loved to can, cook and bake. She was well known for her excellent Mexican cooking. Karen took great pride in canning and stocking up all the shelves with canned goods for the coming year.
Karen was a great bowler. She participated in leagues in her younger years of life.
She enjoyed hunting and fishing. Karen was especially grateful to just be out on the lake enjoying the beauty of nature, time with her husband Kenny and catching fish. Karen also enjoyed motorcycle adventures/trips with her husband Kenny and all their friends. They were members of Abate.
Karen cherished her German Short hair "BoBo" and her Chocolate Lab, Max. They were very special to her and she will be missed immensely by them.
She was a member of Lakeview Lutheran Church in Egeland, ND.
Karen was a very strong woman. She amazed us all with her grace and tenacity thru serious illness. She fought valiantly to the end.
Karen is survived by her husband Kenneth Tuenge, Cando, North Dakota, her daughter Deborah Glaser of Winthrop, Minnesota, Sister Louis of Texas, Granddaughters Rebecca of Winthrop, Minnesota, Daniel (John) of Prescott, Arizona and one great granddaughter Audrey of Prescott, Arizona.
Preceded in death by her Father Chester Stimpert, Mother Bernice Stimpert and Brother William Stimpert.
