Kenneth was born July 5, 1931 in Devils Lake, ND, to Bernhard and Karn (Lindseth) Pollestad who were both born in Norway. He attended school in Alsen, ND and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1949. After high school he spent a winter in Norway with family.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Doris Yeager on December 16, 1951, in Rock Lake, ND. He entered the service in 1952 and served in France during the Korean War. The couple moved to Weaver, ND and farmed in the Alsen area until 1993 when he retired. The couple continued to live on the farm in Weaver until they moved to Cando in November of 2009.
Kenneth was an avid and precise woodworker after he retired making many pieces that he gave away. For many years he made name plaques for school children and teachers. He enjoyed visiting with people and having them in his home. He liked to have fun, laugh and joke around. He had a great sense of humor and displayed that humor even throughout his illness. He enjoyed playing pinochle, watching the birds outside his window and riding in his golf cart. Kenneth cared deeply for his family and his faith was very important to him.
During his lifetime, Kenneth traveled to Norway five times and maintained strong ties with family there.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris; and their children, Kent (Martha) Pollestad of Blue Springs, MO; Patrine (Bruce) Klingenberg of Cando, ND; Greg (Margaret) Pollestad of Drayton, ND; and Kristine (Gary) Stegman of Crookston, MN; sixteen grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, brothers, Alf (Jan) Pollestad of San Jose, CA and Bernhard (Karen) Pollestad II of Devils Lake, ND, sister-in-law, Elaine Pollestad of Olympia, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernhard and Karn, brother: Tonnes and sister Solveig Aune.

Special thanks to Altru Hospice and individual caregivers Judy, Angie and Kassy. Also thank you to all who were such a special part of Kenneth's life through visits, phone calls and cards.
