Kenneth Reed, 71, Cando, ND, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at his home under the care of Mercy Hospice of Devils Lake, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Cando. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Bisbee, ND in the spring. Military honors will be provided by the Hal Parker Post #79 Cando American Legion and Military Funeral Honors.

Kenneth George Reed was born November 26, 1940 in Rolla, ND to Clayton and Rose Marie (Vandal) Reed. He graduated from Rolla High School in 1959 and received his Masters Degree from NDSU in Fargo, ND. On August 6, 1964, he was united in marriage to Judy Bonn at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Bisbee. After serving in the military he taught school and served as Superintendent of Schools in several schools in North Dakota. He also was in private enterprise.

Ken is survived by his wife: Judy Reed of Cando, ND: son: Derrick Reed of Mount Vernon, IL; daughter: Jerrilyn (Kriss) Walstad of East Grand Forks, MN; granddaughters: Alexie and Kaitlyn Randall of East Grand Forks, MN; and a sister: Marlene (Don) Abrahamson of Rugby, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin brothers.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Mercy Hospice, 420 4th Ave. NE, Devils Lake, ND 58301.

Mr. Kenneth Reed family, so sorry to hear of your loss. Mr Reed was my business teacher in St. John early in his career. I remember him as a great teacher and a very nice, fair person. Often wondered where he was at, and to find out he was only 50 miles away. May he rest in peace.

Kenneth and I met at NDSF,(Bottineau),and became very good friends. Hank Bach,(my roommate),and I, were guitar players and Kenneth wanted to learn how to play, so we taught him a few basic chords, and he immediately excelled. Kenneth is a close friend, even though we haven't been in touch for years, I will always have a place in my heart for him. Kenneth and I were in the military together,and he is a true Patriot,and Buddy. Rest in Peace my friend, Rest in Peace.
