Larry Duane was born on March 20, 1930 to his Swedish immigrant father Nels Sven Lindberg and Sarah Helena (Blezzard) Lindberg, in Bisbee, ND. He spent time as a small child on a farm north of Mylo, before moving to Perth, ND, in 1934. He attended grade school at Monroe Township School and high school at Perth Public School, where he graduated with the class of 1948. He then attended a trade school to learn the art of welding. Larry married Evelyn Arlene Torgerson, in Rolla, ND on September 29, 1952. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2012, with a celebration at the Perth Hall in Perth, ND. They raised their six children on the family farm, one and ½ miles north of Perth, ND.

He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Perth, ND where he served as a council member. Following the closure of this Church, he joined Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rolla. He was a board member for the Perth Cemetery Association. He served on the North Central Grain Board of Directors, was a current board member for Towner County Farmers Union and also served on the Monroe Township Board. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, Egeland Historical Society and the Martha & Dale Hawk Museum.

Larry dearly loved his wife, Evelyn, from the day he met her. He loved his family. He was a devoted, loyal and sincere gentleman at all times. He was kind beyond words. He showed an interest in others and loved learning where people came from. Wherever he went he made friends. He was eagerly looking forward to a trip to Sweden on June 14th to re-explore the roots of his father's history.

He loved farming and auction sales. He also enjoyed collecting things: threshing machines, Indian artifacts, cast iron frying pans and satellite dishes. He helped paint smiley faces on satellite dishes for people to see on their travels and had plans for a new blue eyed smiley face to be painted this summer. Larry loved music and collected musical instruments.

He could tell stories like no one else. His memory was solid as a rock and most everyone loved his stories. He had a kindness that was gentle and a smile that warmed hearts everywhere. His love of children and watching them learn will always be remembered.

Larry is survived by his wife and lifelong business partner, Evelyn Arlene of Perth, ND; four daughters: Marlene Mae Smith, Sandra Lou Asenath Lindberg, Sheri Ann (William) Langer and Patricia Renae (Steve) Arvidson and two sons, Arlen Duane Lindberg and Roger Larry (Helen) Lindberg. He has 9 grandchildren, Darian (Troy) Curns, Jessi Smith, Nathaniel Smith, Dana (Victoria) Church, Matthew (Kayla) Langer, Melissa Langer, Joshua Lindberg, Brenden Arvidson and Brooklyn Arvidson. He also has 3 great-grandchildren, Bodhi, Axel and Michael and 3 step great-grandchildren, Brittany, Jeremy and Tristen.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
