Larry J. Peterson, 60, of Cando, ND passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando, ND. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando, ND at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the ceremony at the funeral home.

Larry was born October 9, 1956 to Eric and Marjorie (Dolan) Peterson in Cando, N.D. He attended Cando Public School District and helped on the farm till the family quit farming in 1981 and then worked various jobs when he left home. He worked at Rugby Manufacturing, Noodles by Leonardo and Integra Casting both of Cando. In between jobs he always found his way back to his true passion which was farming. He worked as a farm laborer with local farmers and that was when he was the happiest running equipment up and down the fields.

Due to health issues, he was no longer able to work as a farm laborer, so he had to find other interests to occupy his time. He enjoyed puttering around doing yard work and helping with the flowers. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters April and Jessie, and his little nieces and nephews when they come to visit. He used to get such a kick (as he would say) out of them. He enjoyed taking rides on his scooter to check out the town and visit with different people along the way. He was definitely a story teller and had many to tell his daughters. He looked forward to the country drives on Sunday afternoons.

Larry was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2011 and was cancer free. Then in 2017, the cancer come back aggressive and he chose to enjoy life to the fullest before it took him. Larry donated his body to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences Deeded Body Program.

He is survived by his 3 children, Dustin (Samantha) Squitieri of Grifton, North Carolina, April Peterson (Travis Morin) of Grand Forks, N.D and Jessica Peterson of Devils Lake, N.D.; Brothers, William (Kathleen) Peterson of Turtle Lake, N.D., Michael (Janet) Peterson of Devils Lake, N.D.; Sisters, Katherine (Richard) Schaefer of Cando, N.D., Gloria Peterson of Bottineau, N.D., and Brenda Campbell (Marc Vetter) of Cando, N.D.; 2 Grandchildren, Many Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, parents and sister Mary Peterson.
