Latane Y.
Peterson
Jun 22, 1931 — Jan 23, 2025
Grafton
Latane Peterson of Grafton, North Dakota, formerly of Fargo, passed away at Lutheran Sunset Home on January 23, 2025 at the age of 93. Latane was born June 22, 1931 to Earl and Emma (Schumacher) Vote and welcomed by her only sibling, sister Eileen of Crocus, North Dakota.
Latane lived in Fargo most of her adult life and moved into Lutheran Sunset Home in 2021 where at the time her sister Eileen and niece Rita were also residing. They were all fortunate to be able to celebrate many occasions together along with niece Tia Wieler, Steven and Adam and enjoyed many treats that Tia would bring them.
Latane's mother passed away when Latane was young and her Aunt Minnie (Vote) Lang and Uncle Pete Lang helped raise her. Latane graduated from Bisbee High School and soon after moved to Fargo where she worked for Northwestern Bell for over 40 years. It was in Fargo that she met John Peterson and married. Latane cared for John (Johnny) for many years as his health deteriorated from kidney disease. John passed away in 1989.
Latane was a lovely person. She catered to and spoiled all her nieces and nephews and was thoughtful and generous. And they loved it. She was an excellent cook and baker and her husband John always remarked how lucky he was and complimented her on the delicious dishes she would make. Over the years Latane willingly and lovingly helped out many including her father Earl who was a longtime resident at the VA in Hot Springs, SD as he suffered arthritis and effects of war as a proud WW1 veteran, Aunt Minnie Lang of Florida, her mother-in-law Ella in Fargo and last but not least her sister Eileen and all those children and their families!
Latane is survived by her nieces and nephews, Glenda (Darryl) Stansill, Rita Rae Loe, and Tia Marie (Steven) Wieler and Steve Zaeske, grandniece Deanna (Perry) Longtin Jacobson, grandnephews Ryan (Mollie) Loe, Adam Wieler and many great nieces and nephews, friends, classmates and good friend Misty Hulett.
Latane was preceded in death by her husband Johnny, parents Earl and Emma (Schumacher) Vote, sister Eileen (Glenn) Loe, mother-in-law Ella Peterson, nephew Roger (Pam) Loe, grandniece Amy (Loe) Gilbert, grandnephews Marc Stansill and Tom Zaeske, sisters-in law Elaine (Alden) Zaeske and Karla Drury.
There will be no services per Latane's request. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Egeland, North Dakota at a later date.
Thank you to all who cared for Latane.
