Lavon Eileen Perich, 93, of Cando, ND passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Towner County Living Center in Cando. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Cando Assembly of God Church in Cando with Rev. Michael Rohrer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by 7:00 PM Prayer Service Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at the I.O.O. F. Cemetery in Cando in the spring. Music will be provided by Mindy Wagenman and Duane Isaacson.
Lavon Eileen was born November 30, 1925 to Alvin and Katie (Burkhart) Loucks in Zion, ND. She attended school in Cando until 1940, when her family moved to Egeland, ND. From the time Lavon was young, she enjoyed singing with her sisters. Known as the 'Loucks Trio', the girls enjoyed singing together, whether all three or just two of them. Lavon worked at the Telephone Office in Egeland while attending school from 1942-1943. She graduated from Egeland High School in 1944 and furthered her education at the North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN from 1944-1945.
Lavon was united in marriage to Harley Edward Perich on May 19, 1947 in Zion, ND. The couple lived at Crocus, ND before moving to Cando in November 1955. They lived with Lavon's mother in Cando until March 1957, when they moved out to the farm just north of Cando. She baby sat for several children: Dani (Glennen) Nelson, Roger Olson, Paul Wagenman, Sheri (Held) Leas, Brad Held and granddaughters, Lennae and Danette, just to name a few. Lavon also taught Sunday school for many years. Harley passed away January 22, 2013.
Lavon loved to cook and bake. She was known for her caramel rolls and always canned or froze food in the fall from her garden. Lavon's favorite past time was spent entertaining her family and friends and could throw a meal together in short time if unexpected company dropped in.
Lavon is survived by her children, Marie (Harvey) Loven of Rolla, Harlen Perich of Cando, Lottie Amann of Cando; daughter-in-law, Elaine Perich of Cando; grandchildren, Lennae (Devin) Patrick of Tupelo, MS and Danette (Taylor) Anderson of Apple Valley, MN; great-grandchild, Jethro Anderson of Apple Valley, MN; brothers-in-law, Fritz Paulsen and John Perich; sister-in-law, Alyce Haugen; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harley; son, John Perich; son-in-law, Bert Amann; sisters, Lois Paulsen, Kathryn (Marvin) Loven; brother, Merle (Hazel) Loucks; half-brother, David Loucks; parents, Alvin and Katie (Burkhart) Loucks.
