Lloyd LeRoy Hursh, of Cando, ND, passed away April 26, 2018. He was born February 5, 1933 to Lloyd and Margaret (Howard). Lloyd served in the United States Coast Guard from 1953 through 1957. While stationed in Oregon, he met his clam digging sweetheart, Ann Elizabeth (Lindstrom). They married and began their legacy together on August 16, 1953. The family continued to reside in Oregon until 1973 when Lloyd and his family would pursue his lifelong dream of farming on the Hursh farm in his hometown of Cando, North Dakota.

Lloyd was a hard working family man with a huge heart. He was known in the community as someone that was willing to help his neighbors and could fix just about anything. There were always sweets around, whether it be freshly baked or the hard candy that could be found in every car, truck, and tractor he owned.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Margaret; his siblings, Clayton, Emma, Dorothy, Lila, Esther, and Cecile. He is survived by his wife, Ann; his 4 children, Karla (Terry), Ken (Karin), Kathi, and Kristi; 13 grandchildren, Joel (Amanda), Holly, Tia, Hope (Willie), Hanna, Paul, Serra (Robert), Richell, Mac, Kyra, Lowgn, Dana, and Derek (Megan); 16 great-grandchildren, Zane, Braughn, Jadyn, Andy, Derek, Tati, Zavier, Kaitlyn, Josie, Mia, Evan, Celeste, Aden, Sebastian, Sage, Sylas, and one due in October; 1 great-great-grandchild, Paisley. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Because of his selfless and giving spirit, Lloyd has chosen to donate his remains to science and research at the University of North Dakota in hopes that he would be able to contribute to the future of medicine. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at the memorial service to be held on Friday, May 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Cando. A light lunch and refreshments will be served following the service in the church basement. A Prayer Services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Cando. The family is grateful for condolences which can be sent to the Towner County Living Center, 701 11th St., Cando, ND 58324.
