Obituary

Lodvar Sidney "Sid" Boe, 89, a lifetime farmer of the Perth ND area, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Heartland Eventide in Devils Lake, ND.  Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Bisbee Lutheran Church in Bisbee, ND with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will take place at Perth Cemetery.

Sidney Boe, the son of Lodvard S. and Magda (Odden) Boe, was born in Rolette, ND on September 22, 1932.  He grew up in the Perth area, attended Oxford Country School and graduated from the Perth Public School in 1950.

On October 24, 1953 he married Bertha Cecelia "Ceil" Lindberg at Trinity Lutheran Church in Perth.  They farmed southwest of Perth and raised four children.  Cecelia died in June of 2006.  They were married almost 53 years.  They did a lot of things together, camping, square dancing, skiing, snowmobiling, winters in Texas, Sons of Norway, traveled to Norway and Sweden, Australia twice and saw much of America and Canada too.  Sid especially enjoyed having coffee with friends and family!

On July 20, 2009, Sid married Rita Waldorf at Rugby.  They recently celebrated 12 years of marriage.  She has been there for him during this long difficult struggle with Parkinson's.

Sid really enjoyed farming.  He could fix anything.  His brothers Oliver and Harold also farmed nearby.  Often, where you would see one, there were the others.  They were all tall and easy to spot in a crowd!  Cecelia would say "Sid loved to work hard and loved to play hard!"  Some farm jobs weren't so enjoyable like picking rocks by hand and pitching those heavy hay bales, but when the work was done, there was camping and swimming and fishing and hunting, and the Minnesota Twins!  Sid retired but he never really "left" farming.  He was always interested in what was happening at the farm.

Sidney was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church until its closing and then attended Bisbee Lutheran Church.  He was active in the community and church.

In May 2016 Sid and Rita moved to an assisted living apartment in Devils Lake and in January of 2019 Sid moved to the Eventide Heartland Nursing Home as the Parkinson's progressed.

Sidney is survived by his wife, Rita of Devils Lake; daughter, Carolyn (Lonnie) Anderson of Rugby; sons, Daniel(Jocelyn) Boe of Perth and Kenneth(Sharon) Boe of Golden Valley; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Boe of Fargo;  step-daughter, Bobi (Patrick) Heaney and step-son William(Pamela)Combs. His 8 grandchildren are:  Paul Anderson, Joshua (Danica) Anderson, Lucas (Kelly) Boe, Jaclyn (Jason) Frueh, Matthew (Cindy) Boe, Brendan (Laura) Boe, Jodi Boe and Linsi Boe.  His step-grandchildren are: Cari (Jimmi) Shannon, Aaron Combs, Corey (Tasha) Combs, Justin Combs and Darrick Combs.  He also has 8 great-grandchildren (plus another soon!):  Annika, Hailey and Carson Frueh, Hunter, Noah, Isaac, Seth and Lauren Anderson, plus 10 step-great grandchildren: J.P., Willa and Piper Shannon, Saffron, Victoria, Heather, Sarah, Tavin, Bailey and Zaden Combs.

Sidney is preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia; his son, Lowell; his parents and brothers, Oliver and Harold; an infant sister, Margaret and an infant brother.

Sid's family wishes to thank you for your presence here today and for your many acts of kindness.
