Lorie A Currie was born June 3,1960 to Roderick and Loretta (Underdahl) Currie in Rugby ND. Lorie grew up on a farm near Cando. She met many lifelong friends on the school bus. At a young age Lorie's parents instilled in her a strong work ethic. After farm chores were completed, Lorie enjoyed riding horse and being with her friends. Throughout high school she was on the cheer team and bowling team. Lorie also put in many hours working at the local cafe. She graduated high school in 1978.

In 1982 Lorie met her soul mate; David Axtman at the laundromat in Cando. They were married July 6, 1985. Together they raised three children Nathan, Josie and Cassie. Through many trials and tribulations Dave and Lorie remained friends and later rekindled their love. Dave was by her side until the end.

Lorie worked as an accountant for most of her life. She had been employed by Spirit Lake Casino since 2019. She enjoyed her coworkers and would often come home with fun stories from the day. She had a love for music and helped at many of the concerts the casino hosted.

Lorie's greatest treasures were her grandkids. Her first grandchild was born in October of 2014 a precious baby girl who quickly became grandma's best friend. She had four grandchildren - MaryElla, Rody, Maddie and Zaeley. Lorie was an active part of her kids and grandkids lives. She never missed a birthday, a school concert or a sporting event. She adored and spoke highly of Josie and Cassie's better halves; Jade Axtman and Cole Miller.

Lorie was always up for a good time. She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and marbles with her family. She was often right at Dave's side during many fishing and hunting adventures. Lorie had a big heart and was there whenever anyone was in need. She never left without a goodbye hug.
