Lorraine Louise Starr, 86, Bisbee, ND passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Towner County Living Center in Cando, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Bisbee, with Fr. Philip Chacko and Deacon James Eggl celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Bisbee. Visitation will be at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a rosary and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Casket bearers will be John Doehler, Russel Kolberg, Daniel Boe, Donald Bucholz, Darren Spaeth, Richard Galow, Robert Weltin and Kenneth Sandbakken. Music will be provided by Gail Tastad.
Lorraine was born in Perth, ND on January 11, 1928, to Peter M. and Frances M. (Doehler) Spaeth. She was educated at Perth Public School and went to Minot and obtained her teaching degree. Lorraine taught at Virginia #1 School for one year. She married Earl "Sonny" Starr on October 25, 1948 in Cando, ND. The couple established their home near Perth where they farmed and raised two sons. Lorraine enjoyed selling Avon and painting ceramics. She obtained a teaching certificate for ceramics and taught ceramic classes out of her home and sold her completed pieces at surrounding craft shows. Lorraine was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Holy Rosary Altar Society in Bisbee, ND and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Lorraine is survived by her sons: Randy Starr of Bisbee, ND, Larry (Julie) Starr of Bisbee, ND; granddaughters: Chantel (Seth) Murphy of South Heart, ND and Crystal Starr of West Fargo, ND; great grandchildren: Jake and Ava Murphy of South Heart, ND; sister: Delores Galow of Bisbee, ND; sisters-in-law: Janet Spaeth of Devils Lake, ND and Betty Spaeth of Jacksonville, NC; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl "Sonny" Starr; brothers: Leo Spaeth and Gerald Spaeth, brother-in-law: Vernon Galow.
